Amazon has started recruiting six new workers at its Hertfordshire site.

The retail giant has advertised positions at its Amazon fulfillment center in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Amazon sorts its orders at various centers across the UK, including the Hemel site, which opened in 2012 and is the size of six football pitches.

The huge warehouse is filled with millions of items which are packed by skilled workers using modern technology.

Head of Operations (two positions)

The job posting states, “The role of COO is a critical position and has a huge impact on both the customer experience and the bottom line within the fulfillment center.

“You will report to the Senior Operations Manager and you will be directly responsible for a team of Area Managers and their direct reports.

“In addition to motivating them to do their best, it will be up to you to plan everything and manage everything effectively to manage the peak season.”

Automation Engineer

The objective of this role is to find faults, troubleshoot and improve control solutions for automated material handling equipment such as conveyors, sorting systems, scanners, cameras, printing systems and application, scales, human-machine interface (HMI) systems and control cabinets.

The Automation Engineer will also provide training to engineering technicians on device troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Relevant experience in PLC controlled automation and problem diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment is noted as one of the five basic qualifications.
