Blackline Safety will double its manufacturing capacity

Calgary, AB and Houston, TX – Blackline Safety Corp. (TSX: BLN), a global leader in connected security technologies with a software-as-a-service (HeSaaS) business model that enables workers to do their jobs and get home safely every day, announced an investment of $2 million in its manufacturing process which will allow the company to double its production of equipment.

The upgrade – implemented in preparation for an expected increase in global customer demand for Blackline’s products in 2022 – will particularly improve manufacturing power as the company prepares for high-volume production of its soon to be launched G6 entry level single gas portable safety. device.

The investment includes adding additional surface mount technology (SMT) to Blackline’s in-house production line, which has been shown to reduce assembly and shipping times from 24-48 hours to 5 weeks when using the company’s contract manufacturing. The technology – which involves mounting electrical components directly onto the surface of a circuit board – is also more cost effective, with Blackline realizing a return on investment in just 10 months.

“With SMT, we are building on our already robust technology and manufacturing facilities, as well as the added flexibility to respond quickly to increased demand, while maintaining product excellence,” said Kevin Meyers, Chief Product Officer. operation of Blackline Safety. “Having SMT to place components on a PCB line not only allows us to produce units faster and with greater precision, but it’s also a much tighter layer of control in our manufacturing process.

Meyers explained that since the company has been manufacturing products with SMT in-house, it has seen its hardware sales volume increase by 350%. “Additionally, our quality levels have been exceptional, programming and task setup are easy, and our team has been able to rapidly develop and deploy new products,” he said. “Because of the vital safety aspect of our products, they simply cannot fail – exceptional build quality and field reliability are non-negotiable.”

Blackline’s technology is cloud-based, with GPS-enabled sensors and safety devices that leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect workers to live 24/7 command center monitoring. of 7. The platform includes powerful emergency response and evacuation management capabilities as well as contract research. It connects employees to software that pinpoints their location, enables two-way information sharing, and collects vital data, helping to detect the exact location of a gas leak or determine how often workers move to high-risk areas. The company’s portable devices come in two rugged models, one connected via cellular network and the other via satellite.
