CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (OCT 18, 2021) – Caesarstone, a leading developer and manufacturer of high quality engineered quartz surfaces, today announced the release of its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report which was created in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The report is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to take action on environmental and social issues, demonstrating its commitment to creating a greener and safer future for its employees, customers, partners and the communities in which it operates. Caesarstone’s ESG strategy is based on four pillars: sustainable products, environmentally friendly production, health and safety and social responsibility.

In the United States in particular, Caesarstone achieved the following ESG successes related to the strategic pillars:

  • Sustainable products

    • All products hold various international environmental certifications that verify low emission and low maintenance qualities.

    • Eleven products are certified by Scientific Certification Systems Global Services to comply with various percentages of pre-consumer recycled crushed glass.

    • All indoor products are covered by a lifetime warranty and the Outdoor collection is covered by a 10 year warranty.

    • Each box used to package the samples is made from recycled cardboard.

  • Caesarstone supports sustainable practices for the architecture and design community through a partnership with Material Bank’s Sample Collection Format and the Mindful Materials Library.

  • Eco-responsible production

    • The U.S. production facility in Richmond Hill, Ga. Recycles approximately 95% of the water used in production and has reduced water used per slab by 24% over the past five years.

    • Additionally, the production facility mapped all waste streams to identify opportunities to reduce waste at source and divert more material to recycling.

    • By 2025, the company intends to reduce international energy consumption by 10%, recycle water and reduce its consumption by at least 10% and reduce pollution levels in the 5% air.

  • Health and security

    • By creating safer work environments and training staff in safe work procedures, the company has managed to reduce its lost-time injuries by 72% over the past three years at its production facilities, including ‘Richmond Hill location.

    • Caesarstone has launched Master of Stone for Manufacturers, which offers free online training aimed at educating them on health, safety, job skills, and value-added content for manufacturing plant managers.
