Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday filed the candidacy of Sri Chamkaur Sahib constituency for the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls. The nomination process, which began on January 25, will continue until February 1.

He also asked Dasmesh Garh Gurudwara for blessings before submitting the candidacy.

Channi, who is running for two seats, submitted his candidacy documents yesterday from Bhadaur (SC) headquarters in Barnala district.

After filing his Bhadaur nomination papers, Channi said he came as ‘Sudama’ and hoped the people of Malwa region would take care of him as ‘Lord Krishna’.

Asked about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s claim that he will lose Chamkaur Sahib seat, Channi challenged the AAP leader to run against him in any constituency in Punjab. Kejriwal on Sunday had criticized Channi for contesting from two seats, saying he was losing the seat of Chamkaur Sahib (SC) which the Congress leader currently represents.

Voting for the 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly will take place on February 20 and counting will take place on March 10.
