Lawan spent 23 years in National Assembly, expected to be president: Senator APC

Sani Musa, the senator representing the senatorial district of Niger East, said Senate President Ahmad Lawan would make a good president if elected or confirmed by consensus in the APC presidential primaries scheduled for Tuesday in Eagle Square in Abuja.

In a statement signed by Nasiru Abdullahi, campaign organization spokesman Ahmad Lawan said.

“Senator Ahmad Lawan comes from an area that has not produced a President of Nigeria since 1966. He is blessed with a good education up to a doctorate. A very humble and loyal person, he has no scandals or controversies around him. Also, he was a legislator in the House of Representatives and the Senate for 23 years since 1999. That’s a lot of experience,” Musa said in the statement.

The senator called on other APC candidates to avoid bitterness, “even if they lose the (presidential primary) election.”

He called for “loyalty to the party by accepting the outcome of the primaries as God’s will and moving forward together towards the general election as a united family.”

Mr. Musa also mentioned that the APC should ensure “inclusion in the electoral process by not insisting on zoning or excluding any qualified party member from running in the primaries.”
