Lil Uzi Vert isn’t afraid to steal the stage. The 26-year-old is known for his bold style, which includes vibrant, contrasting colors and head-turning prints. For the 2021 Met Gala, he worked with longtime collaborator Thom Browne to create another risky sartorial movement: an aged suit with a pleated skirt.
But before getting dressed, Lil Uzi Vert was used to Vogue on his style. Although his hometown of Philadelphia didn’t “embrace new things too much,” he found his own style. “The way I choose my fit… just reach and grab and put anything,” he says. Something he put on for the Met Gala? Diamonds. (At one point, he actually had a $ 24 million piece of jewelry implanted in his forehead.) Early Monday, he visited Eliantte & Co. in the Diamond District to examine rocks to add to his ensemble.
When he’s ready to go, he still looks like Lil Uzi Vert with his Thom Browne skirt and a neck full of diamonds. In addition, he is in good company: Erykah Badu, or rather “Big E”, as he calls it. Not a bad way to start the night.
