Marine Support Services Company Expands to Chesapeake

Prism Maritime LLC, a full-service provider of maritime support services to the US government, will invest $ 4 million to expand into the town of Chesapeake.

The company will build two new 12,000 square foot facilities that will be used for manufacturing, laboratory and storage space at the Greenbrier North Business Park. Virginia successfully competed with California for the project, which will create 166 new jobs.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in the city of Chesapeake, Prism Maritime provides engineering, research, development, technical and modernization services to its military clients. They work with clients to integrate technological improvements for land and shipboard systems. Prism Maritime develops drawing and design packages for installations or manufacturing. Their work supports new technologies and systems in the maritime environment of the Ministry of Defense.

They will support Prism Maritime’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides advisory services and funding to support the recruitment and employee training activities of companies creating new jobs.

As a business incentive that supports economic development, the Virginia Jobs Investment Program lowers the human resource costs of new and expanding businesses. The program is publicly funded, demonstrating Virginia’s commitment to improving employment opportunities for its citizens.
