Mazak’s DISCOVER event to attract North American manufacturers to Florence to see the latest technology

Mazak’s DISCOVER 2021 tech and educational event, taking place October 25-29 at the company’s Florence manufacturing campus, will attract hundreds of desperate North American manufacturers looking for new technologies that will enable them to keep pace with continued consumer demand.

This year’s DISCOVER events promise all-new machines and technological firsts from Mazak.

In addition to seminars on hot topics in the manufacturing industry, tours of the Mazak iSMART â„¢ factory, and opportunities to meet one-on-one with application experts, DISCOVER 2021 will allow visitors to experience Live demonstrations and technologies presented in four action areas.

Each will address the unique challenges faced by manufacturers today and the solutions to overcome them. These solutions include those that will maximize the high production of small precision parts, ensure profitability in the shop floor, optimize workflow, and help maintain a skilled workforce through technical training as part of the process. Mazak’s customer support program.

On the advanced machining side, DISCOVER 2021 attendees will learn about machine technologies that will increase their efficiency, productivity and competitive advantage. In response to customer demand for new and advanced production equipment, DISCOVER 2021 will offer 20 innovative machining systems – many of which are designed and built in Kentucky – some of which are either completely new to the industry or making their debut in person. in North America.

To provide workshops with reliable and maximum machine tool performance at a lower capital investment, Mazak will showcase several models of its new Ez series of horizontal lathes and vertical machining centers at DISCOVER 2021. Designed and built in the Kentucky Ez machines feature the company’s new MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC, and are optimized for simple operation as well as quick and easy installation. The machines offer improved ergonomics, stable and reliable part processing and long-term reliability.

The DISCOVER event will also highlight the latest next-generation NEO versions of the popular HCN series of horizontal machining centers and VARIAXIS series of vertical machining centers from Mazak, including the HCN-6800 NEO and the VARIAXIS. i-800 NEO. Each sports a completely redesigned enclosure, industry-leading standard and optional equipment, and enhancements to provide fast and optimal solutions for an even wider range of part production applications.

The HCN-6800 NEO has received numerous enhancements that take the performance of the previous generation to a new level of efficiency and ease of use. The spindle, table, and standard magazine have all received significant improvements, including a new and improved 43-tool drum-type standard magazine that reduces tool exchange times.

A redesigned ATC gate is servo driven and faster, and the new design will now also accommodate a longer tool. For ease of maintenance, the machine incorporates hydraulic / motorized pallet changer mechanisms and an easier-to-access maintenance panel. As an option, Mazak offers a direct-drive motor table that guarantees the fastest indexing time in its class and, thanks to rotating scales, high-precision positioning.

As an upgraded next-generation version, Mazak’s popular 5-axis VARIAXIS i-800 NEO machine offers faster, faster travel speeds for shorter machining cycle times, extended part capacities and more automation options. Automation options include a two-pallet changer, as well as the compact Mazak Multi-Pallet Pool (MPP) multi-pallet storage system and the Mazak PALLETECH modular system.

The VARIAXIS i-800 NEO is equipped with the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC and the HCN-6800 NEO with the MAZATROL SmoothG CNC, both incorporating Mazak’s heat shield functionality. This advanced system uses machine learning and modeling to instantly compensate for changes in machine and ambient temperature during operation, ensuring the highest degree of precision even over long machining cycles.

At DISCOVER, Mazak will also be demonstrating several new machines that continue to advance its multitasking technology, including those in the company’s new INTEGREX iH series. These high productivity machines increase flexibility and improve performance for significantly easier automation integration, enabling stores to increase the output of their existing workforce with maximum profitability.

The most advanced machining systems are only worth the service and support that back them up. At DISCOVER 2021, attendees will experience Mazak’s new service portal, which further enhances the industry’s most comprehensive and robust customer service program. When shops need machine service, the portal allows them to open a work order, receive immediate notification when a service technician is available, or resolve the issue over the phone with technical support. Once an in-person service call is scheduled, shops can track the status of an existing work order or the arrival of a service technician.
