Obituary of Paul Zelenka (1947 – 2021) – Weirton, West Virginia

Paul Edward Zelenka of Youngstown, OH, died at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a brief illness on December 18, 2021. He was 73 years old.
He was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on December 30, 1947, the son of the late Paul E. and Barbara Fedor Zelenka II.
Paul graduated from Washington High School in 1966 and received a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Chardon University. He spent many years working for Rubber Rolls Incorporated, before retiring as a production manager, which gave him more time to cheer on his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees.
Paul liked to be outside. His love of golf, camping and fishing was an integral part of him. Plus, his camping and fishing trips are forever on the minds of his family, having spent countless days in Wildwood, New Jersey.
Although his daily routines are well known, Paul always had time for his family. His loving and caring ways went beyond his house; when his friends needed him, he never let them down.
Her daughters speak of the special relationship with her grandchildren; the five of them were very important to him. Paul sometimes got in trouble for slipping Coke and candy bars on them when his daughters asked him not to, a secret between him and the children.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his stepmother, Athena Frangos.
Remembering Paul with love and admiration is his wife of forty, Stamatia Frangos Zelenka, whom he married on November 21, 1981.
His daughters, Vanessa (Justin) Fritz of Mineral Ridge, OH., Athena (Adam) Riggs of Morning View, KY., Her grandchildren Camden, Odie and Hudson Paul Fritz, Wesley Edward and Virginia Riggs, and the two dogs who ‘he probably loved Molly and Mia above all else.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 27 from 11:00 a.m. to midday service at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. 26062.
Bro. Anthony G. Thurston will officiate.

Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The Zelenka family requested that masks be worn during their visit and service.
