Sets in motion a complex assembly process of india first quantum computer in the private sector dedicated to research in Kolkata
Kolkata, India, April 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — TCG Group plans to create a one-of-a-kind university in Kolkata. The group, led by Dr. Purnendu Chatterjee, has committed all necessary resources to achieve the global research aspirations of the proposed university. As a first in this direction, the group has already set up a research center that can be translated into fundamental sciences. The proposed university will be unique in its concept as it will also be fully focused on basic translational research.
Focused on collaborative research on a global scale, this university will also have its own quantum computer, once again the first in the private sector in India. The computer, proposed to be dedicated to advanced research assistance, is being installed in Kolkata. The complex installation process has already started. Once fully operational, Kolkata can pride itself on being in tune with its notoriety by striving to stay one step ahead in the field of academic initiative.
The university will strive to:
Create one of the best infrastructure facilities and onboard the best educators and researchers from around the world, which will foster quality higher education, research, product development and industry consulting.
Develop a network with the world’s leading universities, research institutes and industries that will synergize collective efforts in the fields of contemporary education and research and culminate in regional and global well-being.
To act as an anchor university for the world’s top academic departments, research labs, innovation centers and business incubators that would collocate and cooperate for mutually beneficial goals and objectives.
Be nimble and flexible in designing programs and operational constructs to keep pace with the ever-expanding world of knowledge while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
The university has already resumed its path as a research center called TCG CREST with doctoral students working in advanced technologies. He works in the areas of Quantum computing, neuroscience, cryptology, data-driven intelligence and sustainable energy. The research is led by world-renowned scientists who have joined the initiative from institutions and universities like UC Berkeley, known for their leadership in global research efforts. They are all working on ideas that can be translated into the industry.
As an institution, the non-profit TCG CREST is particularly dedicated to the three Ks: knowledge creation, knowledge translation and knowledge dissemination. The focus is on building a strong network with highly reputable knowledge centers around the world—universities, research institutes, global technology-driven companies and academic communities. The aim is to inculcate a strong culture of continuous knowledge exchange through: research, student exchange, faculty exchange, joint projects, collaborative workshops and participatory seminars.
Since translational research will be a priority area of TCG CREST University, it is expected to create work opportunities for more than 200 researchers each year. It will eventually reach significant critical mass for each of the focus areas, sustaining over 5,000 at a steady state. As part of the global innovation ecosystem, these research centers along with a university will help retain an intellectual property (IP) base with entrepreneurial opportunities and high-end jobs in the state. It will also provide a technological boost to the local agri-services sector and result in dramatic productivity improvements in the infrastructure, industry and government sectors.
