Bansal was brought to the UP unit to help BJP leader and current Union Home Minister Amit Shah ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Before that, he was a pracharak with the ABVP of the student wing of the RSS. Considered close to the Shah, Bansal has a proven track record, with the saffron party winning 71 of the Lok Sabha’s 80 seats in 2014 and sweeping assembly elections in 2017. Subsequently, the BJP won the Lok elections. Sabha in 2019 defeating the grand alliance of SP. -BSP-RLD. It also retained power in the state by winning the 2022 Assembly polls. In between, the party also won a series of Rajya Sabha and State Legislative Council elections.

With current UP BJP leader Swatantra Dev Singh having been inducted as Minister Jal Shakti in the Adityanath cabinet, the party will fulfill its organizing role keeping an eye on upcoming civic polls and its outreach programs voters. True to the “one man, one post” policy, the party is seeking a new state president. Sources said that a few meetings in this regard have already taken place in Delhi.

“The training camps organized in the district units will soon end. Likewise, the micro-donation campaign will soon end. But the party has not planned any new activities so far. Maybe because the party needs a full-time state chairman and general secretary (organization) to oversee organizational activities,” a BJP leader said. Along with the appointment of new faces for these top positions, a new UP BJP executive will also be formed.
